According to the experts, North Korean holy volcano on Paektu Mountain may erupt anytime.
There lies a giant volcano on the border between China and North Korea. Called Mount Paektu, it is dormant at present yet a thousand years ago it exploded with a bang.

The explosion was so huge that ash and volcanic matter reached the shores of Japan which is some distance away. Mount Paektu is also known as Changbai in Chinese. It is a mystery mountain. Very few people surrounding the volcano’s home turf even know about its whereabouts.
No one knows when the 9000 feet tall volcano may break out into a furious display of volcanic ash and rocks that get spewed out with force.
However, now that the experts are coming into the locale of the volcano with seismometers and other odds and ends of equipment, more will be known about this magical volcano.
North Korea is undergoing a sort of repeat version of the Russian phenomena of “glasnost” and “perestroika”. An international group of scientists are ready to peer into the volcano’s mouth. Any future explosions and eruptions will be predicted this way.
The question regarding this volcano is whether there is any magma in it. A possible future eruption will also be forecast via some tools-of-the-trade that the researchers will employ in their repertoire.
Most of the causal agents behind these volcanic eruptions lie on the subsurface. The internal structure of the volcano will be mapped by the experts in great detail.
Strangely, Mount Paektu does not lie above any tectonic plates that collide with one another. This is the usual pattern seen in most volcanoes. It is right on top of a plate instead. This tectonic plate is 620 miles away from Japan.
The greatest mystery of history is why Mount Paektu exists where it is today. It shouldn’t be there yet here you have the paradoxical nature of Mother Nature. It is fixed in its position despite the fact that its existence is an impossibility when seen from a geological point of view.
For most North Koreans, the volcano is a sacred spot. It not only represents their national emblem but it is also thought to be the provenance of the original founder of the first Korean kingdom.
Little hamlets are present in the region and blueberries grow in the surrounding areas in the summer season. The gases that escape from the vents of the volcano show that it is still capable of another violent eruption.
