Dwayne The Rock Johnson has officially stated that he will be working on the reboot of Jumanji originally featuring Robin Williams.
Anything with Robin Williams is considered classic and it requires a lot of courage and determination to fill the big boots of the late actor who passed away two years ago.
Last year, Sony Pictures presented the idea to remake the classic movie Jumanji. Based on the Chris Van Allsburg's book of the same name and featured a game that brought real life consequences of the game.
The movie featured Robin Williams, Bonnie Hunt, Jonathan Hyde, young Kristen Dunst and Bradley Pierce. The movie was released twenty years ago and it was praised by many for its computer generated stampedes.
Sony Pictures released titles and release dates for its forthcoming remake on August 2015 stating that the movie will be hitting theatres during Christmas 2016. After that, there was no news about the remake until recently.
Dwayne The Rock Johnson, fresh off from his success from Central Intelligence with Kevin Hart announced on his Instagram that he had loved the script for the remake of Jumanji.
He posed a bright smile with the script and his dog, Shang. He gave a full description of his recent projects that he had produced, directed and acted in including HBO’s Ballers, Central Intelligence and his upcoming movies Baywatch and Rampage.
He then continued to elaborate about the Jumanji reboot. He mentioned that he was working on the script with his team of his own production house Seven Bucks Productions.
Matt Tolmach will be producing the movie while and Jake Kasdan will be the director. Johnson also mentioned that they will start casting for the movie soon.
He mentioned that they hoped to deliver something amazing and cool and according to the expectations of the audience. Sony Pictures has now pushed the release date of the movie back to July 28, 2017.
