Usually such claims are quickly dismissed, but Sirin Labs is backed by a whopping $72 million in funding. Sirin Labs' founders and investors are Kazakh businessman Kenges Rakishev, Israeli venture capitalist Moshe Hogeg and his Singulariteam vehicle and former McKinsey consultant Tal Cohen, with additional investment from Chinese company RenRen.
Tal Cohen, CEO of Sirin Labs says: "Unlike mainstream technology companies where price is paramount, Sirin Labs doesn’t need to wait a couple of years before bringing the most advanced technology to its customers. We can offer them tomorrow’s technology, today. Cost doesn’t influence our decision making; optimal functionality and quality do."
The development of the Sirin Labs smartphone is led by Fredrik Oijer, fomer product director of Sony Mobile. The company keeps details about their first product under wraps. The launch of the first Sirin Labs smartphones named Solarin is though already next month. The Solarin smartphone focus will be on security and it is going to be expensive.
