The next generation Nintendo console will miss the Holiday shopping season says Nintendo.

During the Nintendo earnings call, President Tatsumi Kimishima said that the highly anticipated Nintendo NX will be released globally in March of 2017. This means Nintendo has nothing to compete with the PS4 and the Xbox One this coming Holiday shopping season.

Nintendo's statement about the NX in the earnings release says: "For our dedicated video game platform business, Nintendo is currently developing a gaming platform codenamed “NX” with a brand-new concept. NX will be launched in March 2017 globally."

Nintendo keeps the Nintendo NX still under wraps. Nothing is known officially about the NX. The new Legend of Zelda game will be the focus of E3 2016. The new Zelda game will launch simultaneously on both Wii U and NX in 2017.

The company also said to release more smartphone games this year. Kimishima said that two more titles will join Miitomo by autumn. The new mobile games from Nintendo will include Fire Emblem and Animal Crossing. The Miitomo game has over 10 million users world-wide disclosed Nintendo today during the earnings call.

Nintendo seems to be able to hold over with mobile game releases until the Nintendo NX is going on sale. So far it is still not clear if Nintendo will be revealing anything about Nintendo NX at the E3 2016. The focus is on the new Zelda according to Nintendo. The E3 2016 takes place on June 14 to 16 in Los Angeles.
