Drake’s brand new album Views takes the top spot on the Billboard Top 200 and get record streams with limited release.
Drake has been one of the most successful music artist in the past decade especially with his album release tactics that he has employed and earned a stellar fan following who have made all his album releases a success.

His new album Views from the 6 took the No. 1 spot on the Billboard Top 200 selling a total of 852,000 Copies Sold in its first week in U.S. The album was on the top of the chart according to the Nielsen Music’s multi-metric consumption, which includes traditional album sales, track equivalent albums (TEA) and streaming equivalent albums (SEA).
Also, Views from the 6 also managed to snag a record number of streaming record a collective 245.1 million streams in the past week. This is almost the double of the previous record which was set by Beyonce for her track Lemonade.
This number is an all-time high and that is considering the fact that the full album was released on Apple iTunes. Selected number of songs were made available on other streaming services like Spotify as well but the major number of streams came from iTunes streaming service.
Meanwhile, Views was initially released exclusively for sale through the iTunes Store and to stream via Apple Music on April 29 by Young Money, Cash Money and Republic Records. The album became available for purchase through other digital retailers and its physical CD was also released on May 6th.
Views’ overall units considering all multi metric consumption units including album sales, TEA and SEA is the largest for any album in 2016. It is also the biggest since Adele’s 25 collected 1.19 million units in its fifth week of release.
