Motorola is supposed to launch the Moto Z.
Motorola's new flagship smartphone is not another Moto X. It will be the Moto Z says Evan Blass in a new report on VentureBeat. The information comes from marketing material that has been seen by VentureBeat. Why Motorola is replacing the X with a Z for its flagship smartphone is unclear.
Motorola is supposed to release two new flagship smartphones this year again with the Moto Z Style and the Moto Z Play. The new Moto Z will come with a series of attachable backplates with functionality including a Pico projector, stereo speakers and camera grip with zoom lens. These accessories will be called MotoMods says Blass.
The MotoMods make the Moto Z a modular smartphone similar to the LG G5 Friends. Update: MotoMods Leaked.
The Verizon Droid versions of the Moto Z will be called Droid Editions. Verizon will offer the Moto Z Style Droid Edition and the Moto Z Play Droid Edition says Twitter leaker Evan Blass in his Venture Beat report.
The details on the specifications of the Moto Z are still very sparse. The Moto Z (aka Moto X 2016) is rumored to adopt the SnapDragon 820 (Moto Z Style) and the Snapdragon 625 (Moto Z Play). The camera is supposed to be based on a 16MP sensor in the Style and a 13MP sensor in the lower cost Play phone. There has not been a strong leak yet in regards of the specifications. These details are to be taken with a grain of salt.
