Nintendo President Tatsumi Kimishima describes the Nintendo NX as complete new gaming experience in recent interview.
The Nintendo NX will be complete new gaming experience. 66-year-old Nintendo President Tatsumi Kimishima said in an interview with the Asahi Shimbun that the NX is something new, the hardware and the software line-up. All of it is something that he wants to play for the first time himself.
What has the NX that a 66-year-old Japanese executive wants to play it? The Wii was big with seniors because of its natural and simple way to play with the wiimote. For me a completely new way of gaming can only mean virtual reality with no controllers. A tracker would "transport" the gamer into the virtual reality world of the game.
He also said that the Nintendo NX is not replacing the 3DS or the Wii U. It is the beginning of something new. Does this mean that the NX is not a home console and not a mobile console? There have been early rumors that it is both.
Kimishima seems to also want to prepare Nintendo fans that the the Nintendo NX will not be cheap. He said that a lot of development effort went into the Nintendo NX and the company cannot sell it at a loss.
Tatsumi Kimishima did not reveal any concrete details about the Nintendo NX. The company has stated earlier this year that the Nintendo NX will launch in March of 2017. The unveiling of the Nintendo NX is likely at the TGS 2016 in September. Nintendo also already made clear that there will be no Nintendo NX related announcements at the E3 2016 next month.
In the same interview Kimishima revealed Nintendo's 3D animated movie plans. The full interview is behind a pay wall at the Japanese Asahi Shibun site. Translations of the interview are circulating in gaming forums like on NeoGaf.
