CEO of Taiwan based Apple partner Catcher made statements about the 2017 iPhone.

Catcher Technology is a big partner of Apple. The company makes iPhone casings. At a shareholder meeting Allen Horng, CEO of Catcher Technology, talked abou the 10th anniversary iPhone coming in 2017.

In an attempt to defend Catcher Technology's future business with Apple, Horng said: "As far as I know, only one [iPhone] model will adopt glass casing next year," Horng told reporters after the annual shareholder meeting on Thursday. "I don't think this move will have an impact on Catcher's revenue as glass casing still needs a durable metal frame which requires advanced processing technology and would not be cheaper than the current model."

According to Nikkei Horng added "There will be no Apple handsets using glass-only casings without metal frames next year."

It is unusual that an Apple partner is talking about future iPhone models. Apple likes things to stay secret as much as possible. It appears Horng didn't not see another option to defend his company than to come out with what he knows. There will be only one iPhone with a new glass design.

I expect it will be the special iPhone that marks the 10th anniversary of the iPhone.  It could be that we see two iPhone 7S models and a special 10th anniversary iPhone.

Apple is providing over 30% of Catcher's annual revenue. Losing a part of Apple's business would hurt the company. China's Biel Crystal Manufactory and Lens Technology is rumored to supply the glass casing for the 10th anniversary iPhone coming in 2017.
