It has been estimated that by burning all the fossil fuels, the worst climate change crisis may be set loose. Such a crisis has not appeared in the past 65 million years.
It is a nightmarish scenario. Were all the world’s oil, coal and natural gas reserves used up, the global village would heat up by 18 degrees centigrade over the next three centuries, USAToday reported.

That would be 5.5 million tons of fossil fuels going up in the air. This is a clear-cut warning sign for mankind to change its errant ways.
The result of this burning of fossil fuels would be a return to the prehistoric temperatures when the dinosaurs roamed the earth. That was more than 65 million years ago.
It would a case of SNAFU and human civilization would hardly be able to survive let alone thrive on the planet. The coastal cities would be submerged beneath the oceans as water levels would rise.
This scenario is predicted in case fossil fuels are used in a rapacious manner. Such plunder and despoliation has its price and it must be paid willy-nilly.
Extreme climate change can render parts of the world not worthy of being lived in due to desertification. The global economy would collapse within a short span of time.
As for human health and the food supply, they would both go to hell. The Arctic alone would get warmed over by 35 degrees. The study appeared in a journal recently and it did not make for pleasurable reading.
This sort of news is frightening. Unless steps are taken to mitigate the crisis, the consequences will be dire indeed. The climate is not a free source of infinite bounties.
It responds to fossil fuel emissions and when they exceed the normal limit, the resultant pollution drives global warming through the roof.
Computer simulations are currently being used to model the climatic changes. Warming and the carbon dioxide in the air are matched to see how they affect one another.
The world’s fossil fuel reserves dictate the level of emissions that are sent in a flurry into the surrounding atmosphere. Greenhouse gases such as carbon dioxide and methane have to be drastically curbed if we are to have a clean and green environment.
