Harry Potter’s Invisibility Cloak About to Become a Reality

The scientists are at it. That is why Harry Potter’s invisibility cloak may soon become a real life thing.

Every Harry Potter fan would dream of putting on the J.K. Rowling star’s invisibility cloak on and going about furtively from one place to another while remaining undetected.

The real life thing may not be an impossibility come to think of it. The experts have come up with a video clip that shows how an object can be moved about here and there and yet it remains invisible to the naked eye.

This device follows the principle of the Rochester Cloak which was invented in 2014. It employs four lenses in a coordinated manner to make objects appear to disappear right before your very eyes.

Scientists are using flat screen displays to increase the number of angles which can be hidden. Similar cloaks of various shapes acting from many vantage points may be employed in the future times.

As for the video clip which was released recently, it shows a filming of the background before it is displayed on an iPad via a pair of lens.

The viewer of this magical subterfuge can notice the difference by changing his point of view. It is all a play of light rays falling on the object and then impinging on the eyes through a series of angles that make for the invisibility effect.

The device works in such a manner that the object put behind the screen is cloaked in an invisibility scam of sorts. The trick lies in keeping the viewpoint shifting and the display changing to match it. This lends the image an illusion of invisibility. The magical effect almost seems to be a modern-day miracle.

The only problem that remains is that the resolution of the image that appears is very poor. Yet this will be rectified in the future. There are also a host of other irritants in the context of the device that need to be tweaked and fine-tuned for future smooth functioning.

The evolution of this device will be slow and steady yet it will be one that does take place on a consistent basis. The play of light and shade lend the viewer a glimpse of invisibility that is almost magical in nature. As everyone knows, technology beyond a certain point in its earthly progress cannot be differentiated from magic.
