  • The Winner for the Mirror Ball Trophy at Dancing with the Stars Announced

After a close competition between the three finalists, the votes and judges scores were collaborated to name the winner of the Dancing with the Stars season 22.

It has been 10 tiring weeks where 11 contestants competed to win the coveted Mirror Ball Trophy and the winner has been finally named. After combining the scores of the ninth and tenth week performances which amounted to 5 performances in total and votes from all over the country determined who the winner for this season was and after a close competition, Nyle DiMarco and Peta Murgatroyd took home the trophy and the winning title.

Nyle DiMarco is a deaf model who competed and won the last season of America’s Next Top Model. His goal for competing in the show was to represent deaf community and break the stereotypes associated with the disability.

He has danced every week with renewed determination and has delivered some of the most heart wrenching performances that brought tears to people’s eyes including his Viennese Waltz with Sharna Burgess, foxtrot, tango and contemporary routines with Peta Murgatroyd and finally the cha cha/tango fusion hit the homerun with the judges and the audience.

MMA fighter Paige VanZant with partner Mark Ballas became the runner up for the trophy and ABC meteorologist Ginger Zee and partner Val Chermovsky came in third place. The ladies were both glad to have the experience but everyone was adamant that Nyle deserved to win the competition as he had to work extra hard given his disadvantage.

As soon as their names were announced, Nyle and Peta were surrounded and hoisted up on shoulders by fellow contestants for their win. Peta said that it had been an amazing experience working with Nyle and she was happy that they had won the competition. Commenting on the win, Nyle said that he had been determined to represent the deaf community and he was glad to have the win for all the deaf people in the world.
