Ming-Chi of KGI securities, a famous Apple analyst predicted that Apple would be launching the new next generation of its high end MacBook Pro lineup in the fourth quarter of this year. The new model would have a thinner build and a totally new touch sensitive OLED display bar with integrated Touch ID above the keyboard. Ming Chi might have hit the mark once again as the leaked photos of the upcoming 13 inch MacBook Pro corroborate his claim.

The pictures reportedly leaked by one of Apple’s manufacturing partners in China via Cult Of Mac, depict a display less case of the device which has a vacant strip in place of the function key row at the top of the keyboard. The vacant strip is apparently going to provide a home for the before mentioned OLED touch panel, which may include the much rumored Touch ID sensor.
There are speaker grills visible on either side of the case and 2 USB-C ports are present on either side of the case. Without a side by side comparison it’s hard to conclude whether it is any thinner than the previous models or has any difference at all. The pictures however do not show the much wished for microSD card slot and MagSafe connector. There is a possibility that these are located at the rear of the device as the pictures do not show all angles.
The other less liked possibility is that Apple does not plan on including one or both the ports just like it did with the 12 inch MacBook. Let’s not hold our breath for the ports considering that rumors around Apple’s next iPhone duo have the company hunting down for ports it deems unnecessary or replaceable.

My suggestion for the Cupertino giant would be to go at a pace of one port murder a year. Keeping in line with the rumors we were excepting the launch of Apple’s next 13-inch and 15-inch MacBook Pro models at this year’s WWDC but if Kuo is to be believed, then we will have to wait for the last quarter.
