BMW Wants to Make i Self-Driving Car
  • BMW is all set to build a self-driving ultimate “i” Car

BMW “i” electric car division is working hard to bring an ultimate self-driving car on the roads.

BMW introduced its first EV of “I” series in the year 2013. After that they have worked really hard towards getting the best kind of EV in market. The BMW i-series brand is putting all the efforts in producing a self-driving machine that would be both super in looks and technology.

It is reported by Reuters that the next EV created by BMW will feature a self-driving technology car. The new EV won’t come before 2021. However whenever a new EV comes, its focus will be mainly on driverless technology.

According to Froehilch, this kind of technology will be pretty disruptive for cab services such as Uber and Lyft. Competitive companies such as Tesla, Audi and Merc are also working on these kinds of projects. However only after six months in the program, the i-series has lost its head of programing and function. Along with that the head of i8 program has left the position as well. Thus it looks like BMW might have to change its strategy concerning vehicles in future.

BMW released its i3 model last year and until now only 25,000 sales of this model have been made. This car supports full battery power but was not received well in public. Tesla on the other hand released its model 3 which was also an electric car. It became pretty popular among the crowds and was sold much better that i3. Tesla received more than 370,000 applications for its model 3.

BMW can look at launching a cab hailing service after producing this new I series car with self-driving capabilities. It is said that China will market this car for the first time when it will be available in market.
