Chinese drone company ZeroTech unveiled the Dobby drone in May. The Dobby features a foldable design, enabling owners to carry it in a pant pocket. The 200g light drone is packed with features including GPS, 13MP camera and Wi-Fi. Dobby's flying modes include auto follow moving objects and flight paths including a built-in trajectory flight for cinematic selfie videos.
Dobby's camera can capture 4K photos and HD video. Some spec-sheets claim that the Dobby can record 4K video. This detail is still murky. It is not clear if the Dobby is capturing at 4K, but only for image stabilization. The video the user can watch and share is though only 1080p.
The Dobby drone is listed at several Chinese gadget export sites, but only FateUAV is taking pre-orders for $349.99 and states as shipping date July 15. Earlier this month ZeroTech sold 10,000 Dobby drones in a 24 hour pre-sale on taobao.
ZeroTech developed another drone based on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 platform. The Ying Drone, created in collaboration with Tencent, was unveiled at the CES 2016. With the Ying drone users can directly share the drone videos on social media including Tencent's QQ network.
The Ying drone is bigger than the Dobby drone and weighs with 450g considerably more. It matches most features of the Dobby drone including the 13MP camera, GPS, gesture control and automatic trajectory filming. Like the Dobby drone, the Ying drones' propeller arms can be folded to make the drone better transportable.
FateUAV has listed the Ying Drone for $399.99 and expects to ship it in August. The pre-order of the Ying drone is not available yet.
