It has been found that munching on nuts daily significantly reduces the risk of dying from prostate cancer.

Those males who have prostate cancer could slash their risk of dying from the disease by a third by eating a one ounce serving of nuts five times a week. This has been verified by the experts.

The nuts don’t specifically have to be of one kind or another. They can be anything from almonds to walnuts to pistachios and pine nuts. Also macadamia nuts, hazelnuts, cashews and peanuts figure in the equation.

However, there is a catch to this death risk decimator effect. Eating nuts does not completely prevent the onset of the disease in men. A diet high in nuts is a salubrious step in cutting the risks of dying once you get prostate cancer, not before you get it.

Prostate cancer afflicts almost 35,000 male Britons each year. Of these approximately 10,000 succumb to the cancer and eventually die. A regimen of daily nut consumption would be helpful in the fight to stay alive despite having this deadly disease.

This study got published online in the British Journal of Cancer.

Past studies have pointed to the thousand and one benefits of a healthy and balanced diet. Especially by including nuts in the diet, you are doing your prostate gland a favor. Walnuts are the top choice for this yet other nuts will do just as well.

47,000 men were tracked over a generation. 6,800 of them went on to develop prostate cancer. Nuts do not have a preventative effect. Yet once you contract the disease, they can be the ideal food to help offset an early demise from the disease. The rates of dying from prostate cancer were slashed by 34% among those who nibbled on a one ounce serving of nuts five times a week.

Nuts are high in “tocopherol” which is the scientific name for Vitamin E. This vitamin can fight cancer. A single serving that amounts to an ounce may contain: 45 pistachios, 28 peanuts, 24 almonds, 16 cashews or 14 walnuts.

Prostate cancer compromises male health and hits men hardest in their elderly years. It ought to be fought with all the resources in one’s arsenal. Besides the medicine and various therapies there is always one’s diet to consider as a means of lessening the chances of dying from the disease.
