Land Rover Discovery Sport Pulls 108-Tonne Train: Watch
  • Land Rover Discovery Sport is a Vehicle with Monstrous Power!

A train was pulled by Land Rover Discovery Sport. You can watch this in a video released by company.

Land Rover Discovery Sport is something that you must look for. Recently this beast of a vehicle pulled a 100 ton train in a matter of time. In a test video Land Rover Discovery Sport is seen pulling up the train. The vehicle pulled three luxury train carriages which weighed around 119 tons. This weight is 60 times more than the Sport’s own weight. It equals to that of a Boeing 757 passenger plane. We can clearly see in the video that Sport did not face any difficulty in pulling the train carriages on a train track. It pulled them on the train tracks that are present in Switzerland on a bridge on the River Rhine. This is a 935 feet long Hemishofen bridge.

Managing Director James Platt, said: "For a vehicle of this size to pull a combined weight of 108 tonnes demonstrates real engineering integrity. No modifications were necessary to the drivetrain whatsoever and in tests the Discovery Sport generated more pull than our road-rail Defender, which is remarkable."

It was not the first time when a vehicle of this company was shown pulling something really heavy. In 1989, the first generation Discovery vehicle also pulled a train of cars in Plymouth, UK. The Discovery used in the recent stunt had a 177 horsepower, 2.0 liter four cylinder diesel engine, according to AutoBlog. It has a nine-speed automatic transmission with excellent gadgets installed as well. This stunt was done in order to provide a preview of this vehicle’s power and towing ability.

Karl Richards, Lead Engineer for Stability Control Systems at Jaguar Land Rover, said: "Towing is in Land Rover's DNA, and Discovery Sport is no exception. Over the years, we have introduced game-changing towing technologies to take the stress out of towing for our customers. I've spent most of my career travelling to the most punishing parts of the world to test Land Rovers in grueling conditions, yet this is the most extreme towing test I've ever done."

Discovery currently holds the award for the Tow Car Awards for the year 2015. This is not the first time, a company went for a publicity stunt like this. The VW Touareg also pulled a 747 few years back. These stunts actually tell us the capability of these modern vehicles.
