Marchionne says that there is a probability to have an electric Maserati to be introduced in 2019.

Sergio Marchionne is known for his non-favorable comments about electric vehicles. He has been shown shooting down the concept of Electric Fiats and Chryslers many a times in past. However when the same concept about a Maserati was discussed, he had a different opinion.

According to the latest report by AutoBlog, Marchionne said that his company is going to work on an electric model soon. This electric vehicle will be a Maserati Alfieri model. Along with that a hybrid model of Maserati Levante SUV might also be produced.

This SUV might be available in a few years. The EV is supposed to be available by the year 2019. After that the hybrid will be introduced for sale too. On the other hand Fiat is also bringing the concept of an electric city car. It would be a first electric city car in Europe.

The Maserati will have to look on its introductory price for sure. To remain in competition it will have to keep a price that will be close to its competition like that of Tesla. According to this situation the price of an Electric Maserati should not go beyond $100,000. This price is pretty much closer to what Tesla offers to its customers. Anything beyond this range might not be effective for catering to customers.

Marchionne had stated earlier that electric vehicles will not be able to pull much revenue. However Tesla has proven this concept totally wrong by providing affordable, luxurious and high tech electronic cars. Tesla certainly knows how to earn from this concept.

Now its Maserati’s turn to join the race of electric and hybrid cars all over the world.
