Anton Yelchin's autopsy reveals that he died within a minute and the death has been ruled as an accident.
Anton Yelchin’s death came as much of a shock as any. Upon the heaping pile of tragedies and losses this year, Anton’s death just added more sorrow and pain for his friends, colleagues and fans. His death was so sudden and came out of nowhere.

Social media was filled with condolences and tributes to the actor. His Star Trek co-stars paid tribute to him and remembered him. JJ Abrams remembered him as a funny, talented guy.
Justin Timberlake who had worked with him on Alpha Dog remembered him as “genius actor” and an “amazing human being”. He was only 27 years old and death at such a young age only begged one question, how did he die?
Yelchin was found by his friends with whom he was supposed to meet hours earlier for a rehearsal. They went to his San Fernando Valley home at around 1 AM and found him pinned between his car and a brick mailbox pillar, which was attached to a security gate. The details of the incident were only revealed after an autopsy which declared his death as an accident.
According Coroner's spokesman Ed Winter said the autopsy determined Yelchin died of blunt force asphyxia. His death was swift and he presumably died with a minute.
According to DailyMail, experts believe that Anton might have stepped out of his 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee and left the engine running. The vehicle rolled down and pinned him to a brick pillar and security fence. Experts are saying that Anton might not have properly place his vehicle in park.
Officer Jane Kim said the investigation will look into whether the actor's vehicle was in gear or in park at the time of the accident. Anton’s toxicology is also being called in motion. The actor had no prior drug use charges or reports.
Many are pursuing the factor that Yelchin's SUV was being recalled because the gear shifters have confused drivers, causing the vehicles to roll away unexpectedly.

The model of his jeep has been under investigation for its “e-shift” transmissions, which is the lack tactile and visual feedback which allows the potential for unintended gear selection.
