Indiana Jones is one of those movies that just seems like it is always going to be around, no matter what. With Indiana Jones 5 arriving on July 19, 2019, it is going to keep going. The original Indy, Harrison Ford, is in this one, but he will be 75 when that movie hits theaters. Many people think that when that movie comes out, it will be the end for the series.

Can the Indiana Jones series move on without Indy? Can someone replace him like they often do with 007?
Disney head Bob Iger is hinting that 5 definitely won't be the last of the Indiana Jones movies. He's not sure if they are going to try to make another one with Harrison Ford or if they are going to do a complete reboot of the movie.
Iger said that a reboot is more likely to Movies.com:"right now, we're focused on a reboot, or a continuum and then a reboot of some sort."
A reboot means that everything is wiped clean in terms of continuity, so Iger clarified "Well, we'll bring [Harrison Ford] back [for Indy 5], then we have to figure out what comes next. That's what I mean. It's not really a reboot, it's a boot — a reboot. I don't know."
"We've had discussions about what the direction is," he said, "but I don't want to get into it."
Of course the statement "what comes next" is telling to anyone who knows Disney - the company that has made a lot of money off of rebooting, retooling, retelling, and reviving just about all of the major movies released in a year.

It is likely that they will cast someone younger in the next movie so that they can build up the franchise like Ford has done. Chris Pratt has always been a name lurking in the Indy shadows, but nothing has ever come from it.
