The previous quarter was historic in a negative way. For the first time, iPhone sales declined. Because of the strong correlation between revenues and iPhone sales, the year-over-year revenue also declined last quarter.
Did iPhone sales rebound in the passed quarter? Earlier this month we carried a report that said that the iPhone SE is selling like hot cakes. The iPhone SE was released end of March. The Apple Q3 is the first quarter that will have the iPhone SE sales numbers included in the overall iPhone sales. If indeed consumers flocked to the retro iPhone with the small screen, the iPhone sales could look better than last quarter.
The coming quarter is though going to be the toughest for iPhone sales as the iPhone 7 is looming. The new iPhone is expected to be unveiled in September. The iPhone 7 features an optimized iPhone 6S design with better cameras, higher performance and new colors. Apple might add a third iPhone 7 variant with the iPhone 7 Pro. A dual lens camera is seen as the biggest new feature. The rumors of Apple removing the 3.5mm headphone jack in favor of a second speaker has triggered the most discussion so far.
The Apple Stock (AAPL) ended up at $93.59 at the end of trading on Tuesday. This is close to the 52 week low and far off the 132.97 high.
