July is turning into a retail battle ground between Amazon and Walmart. Usually this only happens in November during Black Friday.
Walmart announced to offer a free 30-day trial of its Amazon Prime competitor ShippingPass. The Walmart ShippingPass gives customers free two-day shipping for $49 per year.

This is is half of what the Amazon Prime service is selling for, but Amazon has added so much more than free shipping to Prime including Prime Video and Prime Music.
In anticipation of Amazon Prime Day 2016 on July 12, Walmart teased new deals at great prices starting July 1. In the announcement Walmart throws punches at Amazon with statements like: "Walmart is known for everyday low prices, and when we have a special price, it isn’t just for a fleeting moment." That is a clear gibe at Amazon's Lightning deals.
Walmart also stresses the point that their deals are for anybody and not just members, like in the case with Amazon Prime deals.
As reported earlier, Amazon will host the 2016 Prime Day sale on July 12. The Amazon Prime Day countdown sale will comence on July 5, the day after Indedendance Holiday.
Walmart has declared war on Amazon in July which is great news for shoppers. When you hunt deals on Amazon Prime Day, do not forget to compare with dals offered on Walmart.com.
The free 30 day trial of Walmart ShippingPass is available here. Items eligeble for free 2-day shipping with ShippingPass are marked with the ShippingPass logo. Marketplace items (products not sold by Walmart.com), and items with freight charges are not eligible for ShippingPass.
