Add To Cart fails on Amazon Prime Day 2016

The servers are hitting a wall early morning of July 12. Adding items to cart is failing.

It is shortly after 8am ET on July 12. The Amazon Prime Day 2016 is live since 5 hours. Now Prime members start to hit problems adding Prime Day deals to the cart.

Hitting the "Add To Cart" Button leads to a message "add to Cart failed. Retrying" message. I had to hit the button 5 times to add the Samsung UN55KU6600 Curved 55-Inch 4K Ultra HD Smart LED TV to my cart.

If Amazon has already load problems now, than this will be a very taxing day for the Amazon server team and shoppers. For now you still can solve the "Add to Cart Failed" issue by trying multiple times, eventually it will work. This can though change as the day progresses. A large number of American consumers are still in their beds.

We have seen a spike in traffic right when Prime Day 2016 kicked off at 3am ET. There are always hard-core shoppers that either stay up late or wake up in the middle of the night to get their deal hunting done. It was a good strategy as the servers responded fine and Amazon had already line-up a wide selection of Prime Day 2016 deals right from the beginning.

Amazon Prime Day shoppers already turning to Twitter in droves complaining about the "Add To Cart Failure." One shopper Tweets: "What's the purpose of #PrimeDay when I can't add anything to my shopping cart?" If Amazon is not getting on top of the shopping cart problem, a new meme will be born.

We have compiled a list of the best Amazon Prime Day 2016 deals to help you find bargains. There are still plenty of Prime Day 2016 Lightning Deals coming featuring $99.99 32-inch TV and a $139.99 40-inch 1080p LED TV. Find out what we know about these highly anticipated Prime Day 2016 Deals in our ongoing Prime Day 2016 deals coverage.

Amazon is aware of the issue and tweeted: "Some customers are reporting difficulty with checkout. We're working to resolve this issue quickly." The situation has indeed improved. I was able to add Prime Day deals to my cart in one click.
