UFS cards presumed to be the successors of micro SD cards were announced by Samsung last week. They are clearly the next generation as they are much faster than any micro SD card based off UFS 1.0 standard. Sadly there is a problem of usage as no current phone or Chromebook supports them because they are incompatible with microSD card slots.

Samsung however has found a way round this. The smartphone giant has created a slot that caters to both microSD cards and UFS cards. The official statement that they issued to Droid-Life reads as follows “with different partners in the industry on this integration for next-generation devices".

So you now have more options when it comes to the sort of card you want to use to expand existing storage if you buy a Samsung device with this particular feature. We hope Samsung extends this courtesy to its upcoming Galaxy Note 7.
