A new hardware solution for privacy arrives from Germany. Meet the eBlocker, every online advertisers' nightmare.
Yesterday I met Christian Bennefeld, co-founder and CEO of eBlocker. His startup is about to ship a device that anonymizes your complete home network. It blocks all ads, stops all trackers, hides your IP. This hardware solution to complete internet privacy hides all your devices from the internet including smart TVs.

Bennefeld's goal is to give consumers control over their data. The banners you see on a web page are just the tip of the iceberg. It is the data that is automatically collected in the background across sites that is used for profiling is where the value for marketers lies.
With the eBlocker installed on your network the uncontrolled flow of personal profile data stops. Bennefeld knows the tricks of online marketers intimately as he was "on the other side." He founded the web tracking and analytics service provider eTracker in 2000, one of the largest web tracking companies in Germany.
The eBlocker does not require any software installs on you PC or smartphone.
The device automatically takes control of your internet traffic and filters tracker and ad requests via pattern matching. A toolbar is automatically inserted in you browser that can be used to control the eBlocker and for instance enable ads on the current site. The device uses Tor network for anonymity, like the Safeplug device offered by Pogoplug.
With automatic updates the eBlocker learns about new trackers. The eBlocker box sells for 189 Euro including 1 year of updates (59 Euro for each additional year). There is also a lifetime updates offer that sells for 299 Euro. The eBlocker Pro ships mid-August.
The eBlocker Family version adds website filtering for kids and multi-user accounts.
The eBlocker box is based on the Banana PI M2+ board. Geeks who own a Raspberry Pi or Banana Pi board can install the eBlockerOS. The company offer the software as free download complete with a free 30 days Update License on the eBlocker site.
