Pokemon Go has been massively successful and people are trying to find ways to make the success work for them. Hillary Clinton's campaign is no different, and in fact, they are planning to use it to help get people to the polls in November.
There are Pokestops all over that allow people to recharge and get the items that they need to battle and catch more Pokemon. These are real locations that are attracting tons of people. Campaign organizers for Clinton, including her Ohio organizing director Jennifer Friedmann, started showing up at these stops and registering people to vote:
There is even an official Hillary event scheduled for the Lakewood, Ohio area, that is connected to the game. "Join us as we go to the Pokestop in Madison Park and put up a lure module, get free Pokemon, & battle each other while you register voters and learn more about Sec. Hillary Clinton!!!" the event description says. "Kids welcome!"
Lure modules are items that attract larger amounts of Pokemon to a certain area. You can get these for free, but it is likely that the Clinton campaign is spending money to attract players to the events.
Of course, there are some questions as to whether or not social media posts and Pokemon Go campaigning will actually work. It might get you in the news, but does it actually sway public opinion? It is unclear right now whether or not it can work for you. Of course it can work against you.
Pokemon Go is designed to get people to you, so you already have their attention longer than you would for a tweet or a Facebook post. It means that what you say will be heard and you can do something that posting on the internet can't do, which is relay a tone. Hillary Clinton, for instance, is often quite sarcastic, but that doesn't come across online.

So far the Clinton campaign has been successful to get people to vote as a result of Pokemon Go. Most people know that when people vote in high numbers, it is better for Democrats.
