It is being said that Pokemon Go players could actually help in the discovery of new species.
So many people have been going on long rambling walks in order to find the buried critters in the game known as Pokemon Go. The game presents a scenario of augmented reality.

As these people are going here, there and everywhere, they are finding new forms of wildlife as well. Many scientists have advised the game players to snap selfies of themselves with some of the animals they encounter on their routes to find the buried critters.
It is entirely possible that a few Pokemon Go players may actually chance upon a new species as they look in hedges and behind bushes. They also have high definition cameras with them (it goes without saying) so they can snap a few pics along the way.
Early onwards in 2016, a novel species of grasshopper was discovered in the Philippines. Yet Pokemon Go players have to take some precautions.
While they may discover all sorts of mythical computer-generated creatures like Eevee and Pidgey but real-life animals are a whole different ball game. The zoological nomenclature has a complexity that is truly mind-boggling.
The authorities who are responsible for naming species have relaxed the rules somewhat which is indeed good news. Yet there is bad news as well.
This is that if your selfie with a rare new species is shown to a biologist, who agrees that it is a novel animal, you must go back and catch the critter. The problem also seems to be that a mere corpse of the animal is not enough.
An actual live animal must be shown to the taxonomy authorities, according to Nature. With new species being discovered everyday around the world, the authorities must make sure they are not dealing with a dud.
The rules are in place for a good reason. If things were relaxed beyond reasonable limits, anyone could perpetrate a hoax or two. Chaos would reign supreme.
Thus it was decided this year that a photograph is something that gives the bare bones regarding a new species. It cannot be prodded and dissected.
