Delphi to Implement Self-Driving Mobility-on-Demand Service in Singapore
  • Delphi will Help Singapore in getting its First Autonomous Vehicles

Delphi will work on Singapore LTAFA for introducing autonomous vehicles.

The autonomous industry is taking everything by storm. Singapore is no longer in the lane of countries that are not interested in the business. They have specially formulated a plan according to which Delphi Automotive PLC has been selected in order to provide autonomous mobility options for people of Singapore. Delphi will work with Land Transport Authority for Autonomous Vehicle Mobility on Demand program in order to go for this program.

Delphi will work in order to prepare and provide a fleet of autonomous cars and will also work on a software. This software will be developed on cloud based mobility and will work on AMOD suite. Delphi will later on work on multiple trails of different kinds of autonomous functions once the basic functioning has been handled. The testing would cater autonomous on demand mobility, low-speed, point-to-point and other related services.

"We are honored to partner with the Singapore LTA on advancing innovative mobility systems, which will put Singapore at the forefront of autonomous vehicle adoption," said Kevin Clark, president and chief executive officer, Delphi. "This is a great recognition of Delphi's leadership in advanced safety technologies, automated software, systems integration, as well as our ability to drive these mobility solutions forward for our customers."

Delphi is known for its software production, their leadership in safety technology, their mobility solutions, and system integration. Singapore’s transport authority is looking for all these characteristics in order to get the right kind of autonomous facility for country.

Jeff Owens who is the chief technology officer of Delphi said that they will start on this project in the same way they performed in the coast-to-coat autonomous drive to United States in the year 2015. They will work on developing a cloud based software integration system which is their strengths. Along with that they think that this technology will be beneficial for upcoming autonomous car markets around the world.

This technology offered by Delphi can be applied to various number of transport vehicles. These include buses, cars and commercial vehicles as well. Along with that customized and purpose built vehicles will be able to benefit from this technology as well.

The Singapore LTA pilot program will last for three years with plans to transition into an operational service by 2022 timeframe. Other pilots are planned by Delphi for locations in North America and Europe in the future.
