However it looks like Chevy plug in are the most loved by American citizens. Stats have shown that Chevy sold 100,000 plug-in Volt vehicles till the mid of year 2016 all over United States. Volt has made quite an impression on the customers if we look at these statistics.
“The Chevrolet Volt delivers not just a fun driving experience behind the wheel, but has become the first vehicle with plug-in electrification technology to truly become mainstream,” said Steve Majoros, director of marketing, Chevrolet Cars and Crossovers.
“Not only is the Volt a class-creator, it serves as the foundation of a Chevrolet electric family that will soon add the first long-range, affordable EV available to customers across the U.S., the Chevrolet Bolt EV.”
This news will surely be a disappointment for Nissan. Nissan was considered as the main dealer of plug-in vehicles in the start. It was also noted that the company would do well in the plug in sales but the results have shown that they have not sold as many vehicles as Chevrolet. Leaf by Nissan is pretty popular and we might get to see more sales of this car as well.
Tesla is the other contender in the race of plug-in providers. It is the biggest and most famous company to provide electric vehicles however its vehicles are considered luxury vehicles due to their facilities and price.
They have high prices as compared to Volt. The high prices of Tesla vehicles have contributed to its low sales. One can get a Volt in around $30,000 including taxes while the price of Tesla cars start from around $60,000, according to AutoBlog.

Chevrolet also claimed that its cars especially volt is very beneficial for environment. The Volt owners have driven around 2.5 billion all over the country and out of these, 1.5 miles were journeyed on electric mode. Thus saving loads of fuel. However there’s still time for the other companies to catch up in the race as well.
