Toyota is thinking about bringing back the classic name of an old car for this new one. They want to call this car “Supra” which was an old model by Toyota many decades ago.
Toyota is looking for an iconic name plate for this car which is the reason they are considering the name Supra which was a 80s model car. However we are still not certain if we will see this kind of name any soon or not.
As for all we know it can be a random name based on alphanumeric. Most of the car makers are going for numeric names for their new models these days.
Thus Toyota’s insistence on bringing back a customized or iconic name looks like a great discussion. It will surely give a sentimental and a decent touch to the upcoming model.
Supra name also suggests that a car having this name should be something to look forward too. This is the reason we are hoping that Toyota brings back Supra.
Tada-San who is known as the father of 86 Toyota model is pushing for the company to opt for this name. Thus the company might go with this name plate on the insistence of a senior partner of Toyota.
He told Australia's CarAdvice, "I love the Supra and I love the Supra name. It's historically important to Toyota. We're pushing for the name Supra for the new car we are developing with BMW."

Tada-San also said that Toyota’s partnership on this vehicle with BMW is going pretty well. Both companies are keen to bring forth a great car which will most probably feature a twin turbocharged Lexus V6 engine. Supra might not be available till 2018.
