Scientists say that they have found evidence that the ancient Chinese flood was real enough.
The flood broke through the barriers and everything was inundated by its savage waters. It was like a boiling liquid had been poured over the landscape. A wave as high as a sizeable skyscraper crashed over the Yellow River.

It destroyed everything that came in its path. This flood soaked the streets of Chinese cities and also devastated the crops in the countryside. It was deeply depredating and massive in its impact. Both hills and mountains were laid flat by its waves.
In the aftermath of the flood, if civilization was to remain intact for any longer, there had to be a man who could manage to show some sense of responsibility and take things back to normal.
This was a person by the name of Yu. He was the founder of the Xia Dynasty, the first ruling elite of Ancient China. Over a whole generation, Yu carried out a dredging campaign. He also had channels dug in the ground and led many public works to mitigate the after-effects of the flood.
Yu brought out the best from the worst. He virtually took things and events back to the way they were before the flood. He was an able and truly inspiring leader who never gave up on his homeland.
All this was thought to have been nothing but a myth. Yet today we know better. A Chinese geologist found signs of the flood in the soil beneath his feet.
In a new study, he provided evidence for the ancient flood which according to him definitely took place. This sure expands our knowledge base regarding what occurred in the past.
Way back in 2007, when research was being carried out on rocks around the Yellow River, the researcher found deposits that seemed to be outburst flood sediments.
The evidence showed that a massive flood had inundated the region in 1900 B.C. A large group of experts examined and found to their surprise that such was definitely the case.
What was thought to be nothing but mythological lore was in fact a real event. Among the flood paraphernalia were broken pieces of pottery inside caves.
From all this a picture of the past can be assembled. Radiocarbon dating of the bones found in the region also points towards the large loss of human life due to the flood.
Now that we know that this myth was for real, one can only wonder how many other so-called myths are also actual events that took place eons ago.
