She declared her love for the Olympics in a tweet in which she stated that it was the only time that all the countries came together to compete. She enthusiastically shouted ‘USA’ in the live tweets when she saw one of the players.
The events that took place in the Rio Olympics on opening day included, Judo, Gymnastics, Soccer, Swimming including backstroke, Volleyball, Cycling and Water Polo.
Leslie had a tweet for every event. She even declared at one time that she needed five TVs just to keep up with all the events. Her tweets also included a lot of cussing and swearing but everyone could tell that she was really into it.
She also had a lot of props to provide live commentary and flashed Olympic medals props whenever Team USA took a win. The only non-USA player to catch her eye was a member of the Montenegrin water polo team about whom she tweeted claiming that he was ‘FIONE’.

Her enthusiasm was really contagious and people could not help checking out her tweets. So much so that her tweets caught the attention of the NBC Olympics' executive producer, Jim Bell who playfully extended an invite for Jones to join the Olympics coverage in Rio.
He was prompted by a Twitter user who said that Jones’ commentary would not only help NBC's ratings but also inspired Team U.S.A. to win more gold medals. Bell tweeted Jones’ inviting her officially to Rio.
Jones was not dismissive of the idea when she tweeted back that they all need her and she will have the whole Olympics pumped.
So the question is....should I go? Hmmm— Leslie Jones (@Lesdoggg) August 8, 2016
