Rihanna has been announced as the next recipient of the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award at this year’s MTV Music Awards.
Rihanna is in for the win. Acknowledging her decade long accomplishments at shaping the world of music and music videos, MTV has announced that she will be the recipient of the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard award at MTV Music Awards this year.

The star announced the news to her fans on her Twitter where she tweeted. "Honored to take the #VMAs stage as your video #VANGUARD award recipient LIVE from NYC on August 28!"
MTV also issued an official statement about the artist receiving the awards, 'Rihanna's unparalleled output of hits have spawned some of today's most memorable music videos from 'Umbrella' to 'We Found Love,' 'Diamonds' and her most recent collaboration with Drake on 'Work,'
Rihanna has been setting trends in the variety of music videos she has given out indeed. She has innovated the way people can perceive music videos, from stripping down to raunchy style to keeping it simple and raw and doing some amazing collaborations, she has given one idea after the other for her music video and introduced numerous styles through the medium.
