Retailers are busy preparing Black Friday 2016. There are only 50 days until the actual Black Friday 2016, November 25.

Black Friday 2016 Countdown: 50 Days

Black Friday 2016 is in 50 days. We hit another milestone on the road to the biggest sales season of the year. As we get closer to Black Friday 2016 the  Black Friday 2016 deals have become more clear. Sony has announced not the PS4 Neo, but the PS4 Pro and a new slim PS4. Microsoft goes against both new Sony PS4 consoles with the Xbox One S. Black Friday 2016 will see the biggest console war yet.

The winner already is the TV industry. The new consoles support HDR (High Dynamic Range). Sony has even enabled the original PS4 console to support HDR with the latest firmware 4.00. Retailers will offer big discounts on the original PS4 and Xbox One to clear out inventories.

The Black Friday 2016 TV deals will have big focus on HDR capable 4K TVs. HDR is not just available in premium 4K TVs, but also trickles down into budget 4K TVs. There are though big differences in quality. The true power of HDR only comes alive in high quality displays with high brightness, dark blacks and wide color range support.

While 50 days until Black Friday 2016 still sounds a long time, the first Black Friday 2016 sales events will be taking place already in one month. We expect the first Black Friday 2016 sales offered by Amazon and Walmart to begin on Friday November 4. There are only 21 days for retailers this year for the Black Friday sales season, making it on of the shortest Black Friday sales seasons.

The most anticipated Black Friday ad is the Walmart Black Friday 2016 Ad. We have pulled together everything you need to know about the Walmart Black Friday 2016 ad. We will keep tracking all developments around this "bible" of Black Friday shoppers.

The Amazon Black Friday 2016 sale will be again a month long. Taking Prime Day 2016 as blue print, the Amazon Black Friday 2016 sale will be the easiest ever to score hot Black Friday deals.

Last year the first Black Friday ad already leaked on October 2nd. It is October 5th and there is no leaked Black Friday 2016 ad yet. We have released our constantly updated and massive Black Friday 2016 Guide that contains the latest information about Black Friday 2016 sales, ads, deals, trends and more.

The first retailer has announced to keep its stores closed on Thanksgiving Day. The Staples Black Friday 2016 sale will again only be available online on Thanksgiving Day and stores will open on Friday morning. Several other stores are expected to keep closed on Thanksgiving Day 2016 including GameStop. It is possible that there will be more shops closed this year as the consumer feedback is positive. The retailers who kept closed on Thanksgiving Day last year have not lost revnenue apparently, else they would not do it again.

The Pokemon Go phenomenon continues and Nintendo just released the Pokemon Go Plus accessory. Turns out the $34.99 Bluetooth bracelet is a must have device for Pokemon trainers. Nintendo has sold out the initial stock within 24 hours. The next wave of Pokemon Go Plus Inventory is expected to arrive end of October. The Pokemon Go accessory has started to show up in stock again on Amazon and GameStop on October 4.

100 days ago we posted our first take on the Black Friday 2016 trends. We still maintain that virtual reality will be huge trend during Black Friday 2016 sales events. A new big trend just shaped up over the last 6 weeks. Pokemon Go is going to be the surprise Holiday shopping trend of the year. Nobody expected that the hype around the augmented reality game will be that huge.

Manufacturers and retailers do not have much time to jump the this huge opportunity as Pokemon related products will be one of the most wanted gifts this Holiday shopping season. Nintendo has changed its release schedule for the Pokemon Go Plus because of the unexpected success of the game. The Bluetooth Pokemon Go wearable will be one of the hottest gifts this year. If there will be Pokemon Go Plus Black Friday deals remains to be seen. This depends strongly on the availability. Nintendo announced to release the device by end of September.

In case there is not enough inventory left into end of November, retailer will not offer deals on the $35 Pokemon Go Plus. You can explore the currently available Pokemon Go gifts in our new Pokemon Go Gift Guide

Another big influence on Black Friday 2016 could be the Sony PlayStation Neo. Sony has schedule a PlayStation event on September 7. If indeed a new PlayStation console will go on sale, budgets for Holiday gifts will shift in a big way. Sony is already going to offer the most popular virtual reality headset, that will also lock in a chunk of consumer's budget this coming Holiday shopping season.

Black Friday 2016 is going to set a new record. All signs are in favor of a recording breaking sales season. Amazon has set the bar high with the Prime Day 2016, setting a new record for the retailer. Amazon has made deal shopping on Prime Day extremely frictionless, resulting in a tremendous amount of sales. Amazon is likely bringing the convenience of finding the deals to Black Friday and Cyber Monday. Amazon had unprecedented stock of steep discounted TVs that sold like hot cakes.
