McLaren has added an electrochromic interlayer within the glass roof of 570GT. This layer will help in adjusting the light that comes off this glass roof. This will help the sun light glare to lessen thus making the drive more serene for driver.
It will also help in decreasing the reflections on car’s screen. This news was shared by McLaren ahead of the Pebble event. This means that we will be seeing this modified McLaren 570GT in the pebble event as well.
This is not the first time when any company is using an electrochromic glass roof in a car. Merced’s-Benz has offered this kind of roof in its high end vehicle Maybach as well. The function of glass is controlled but touch sensitive headliner any time by the driver.
Along with this hi-fi roof, the McLaren 570GT has a titanium exhaust system as well. This is a lighter system then the standard stainless steel systems used in cars. It has heat shields with a finishing of golden titanium nitride tint. This kind of exhaust system was once introduced in F1’s gold lines engine bay as well.

Paul Mackenzie, Executive Director of McLaren Special Operations, commented:
‘This is the second consecutive year that McLaren Special Operations has used the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance to demonstrate our capabilities on Sports Series cars. Last year, soon after the launch of the 570S, we showed the 570S ‘by MSO’ which featured the uniquely formulated Mauvine Blue paint finish coupled with a bespoke interior finished in Carbon Black leather with coordinating detailing, carried through from the exterior colour. This year, closely following the reveal of the GT addition to the Sports Series family, we showcase the breadth of McLaren Special Operations personalisation work, this time focussing on bespoke engineering design and components. With its Electro Chromic Roof especially, the McLaren 570GT by MSO Concept would be well suited to the needs and demands of customers in sunnier and warmer climates.’
