New report says that Sony will introduce two new consoles on September 7.
It is going to be a huge Holiday shopping season for Sony. The Japanese tech giant is set to unveil a new more powerful PlayStation console on September 7. The company will also refresh the standard Sony PS4 console according to sources of the Wall Street Journal. Microsoft already introduced a refreshed Xbox One with the Xbox One S.

Update: That was quick. The Sony PS4 Slim has leaked in the UK. See the photos of the much smaller Sony PlayStation 4.
The new standard Sony PS4 is expected to have a slimmer design and very likely a lower price. The current PS4 sells for $350. To match Microsoft's Xbox One S price, the new Sony PlayStation 4 needs to be priced at $299. There will likely be no technical changes in the new Sony PlayStation 4 S, or whatever Sony will call the new console.
While Microsoft's more powerful Xbox Scorpio is not coming this year, the Sony PlayStation 4 Neo is expected to ship in time for the Holidays along with the PlayStation VR virtual reality headset. This will push Sony further ahead in consoles sales over Microsoft. Sony has so far sold more than 40 million PS4 consoles since the launch in 2013.
Sony plans to ship over 20 million consoles this fiscal year ending March 2017.
