The enormous pearl was originally discovered by a fisherman 10 year ago. Unaware of its value, the fisherman kept it under his bed as a lucky charm ever since

The enormous pearl is 1 foot wide, 2.2 feet long and weighs 75 lbs. It was found inside a giant clam off Palawan Island in Philippines by a fisherman who brought it home and kept it under his bed as a good luck charm. The pearl rested under the bed ever since.
Ten year later, when he had to move out of his house, the fisherman gave the pearl to his aunt, a local tourism officer who was surprised to see such a gigantic pearl.
“We were amazed when he brought it to us.”Aileen Cynthia Amurao, Puerto Princesa City Tourism Officer told media.
“So far based on our research in the web we cannot find any recorded article about this kind and as big as this size.”
Currently, gemologists have been examining this giant pearl and will determine its authenticity. If confirmed, it could have a value of more than $100 millions and it could be the new largest pearl in the world. It can easily dethrone the current record holder, the Pearl of Lao Tzu which measures 9 inches across and weighs 14 lbs. The pearl was found in 1939, also in Palawan waters.
The monster pearl is currently exhibited in New Green City Hall in Puerto Princesa and it has been drawing a lot of attention.
"We have decided that the pearl will be used as one of our tourist’s attractions in the city,” said. Maggay-Amurao. "It is already displayed in city hall."
