Soon Snapchat will be introducing behavioral targeting within the app based on the consumer data and preferences it has recorded. No official word from Snapchat has been received on this matter but the company’s director of revenue operations Clement Xue revealed the information in the Snapchat Advertising report.

The data collected will be just from how the app is used so if you spend a majority of your time viewing cooking videos than most of the advertisement focused you way will compromise of relevant information or ideas.
This seems like an unusual move from CEO Evan Spiegel as he has previously commented his dislike for "creepy" ads that seem to pop out of nowhere and follow you around whenever you log into your social media platforms such as Facebook.
But in terms of company growth this is a smart move as it will attract a whole host of advertisers that were taking their business elsewhere. It will be interesting to see how Snapchat distinguishes between creepy and not creepy and maintains its stance on the matter.
