The VMU is for people with phone models too old do not run the game Pokémon Go reliably.

Everyone you know wants to play the incredibly famous Pokémon Go. But alas not everyone can due to limited funds and the high tech nature of the game. The main reason being some people do not have the new model phones which can aptly play the fun game.

But all those people should not lose heart as soon they will have a way to play the game. Pokémon Go will soon be functional on the cheap, used Dreamcast with a portable Visual Memory Unit.

It might be the cheapest way to enjoy the Pokémon Go experience for these users. The VMU will be functional for Pokémon Go players until the next upgrade cycle.

The chance to play this game is a actually a project from a VMU coder who identifies with the handle guacasaurus_mex. The Pokémon Go VMU is being promised as a randomly generated map grid which will navigate on the 48x32 pixel monochrome LCD screen, according to ArsTechnica.

Although the entire idea seems promising the port will not be available for release until next year. This is where the real predicament starts.

The programmers will require at least a year to draw in all those Pokémon Go characters but will the game still be a relevant gaming phenomenon until the VMU comes out?

This is not the first time Guaracasuarus_rex has helped out the less privileged population of the gaming world. Previously the user had released VMU versions of numerous games including the Flappy Bird and even an original fruit-catching game.

The VMU was originally introduced in the 90s and therefore does not have new features like the GPS option. But who’s to say it may not become the latest craze after Guaracasuarus_rex is done making changes on it.
