Pokemon Go is making a lot of updates in order to keep fans and hopefully bring back a few of the ones that they've lost. While it was already reported that we will get a "buddy system" in a future update to the game, there has been some insight into what that could look like thanks to some interested players.

Pokemon Go Hub looked into what we already have and then broke down where the game could go. The new system will allow users walk with one Pokemon at a time, similar to how you can carry around PokeEggs. When you carry it around, you will be rewarded with a certain number of candies. This is a great way to evolve rarer finds or those with high candy requirements (looking at you, MagiKarp).
The hope is that the buddy Pokemon will appear on-screen as well. The team found that there is a code for "medium," "big," "flying" and "shoulder"-bound Pokémon. There are hopes that this means that any Pokemon can be a buddy, rather than just a select few like was suggested.
The game has currently hit a stall because people just aren't travelling enough to actually play the game. In order to get the upgrades, you sometimes have to travel far and wide.
