Well if you were expecting Apple to ship its wireless AirPods as part of the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus package than you will be disappointed. Phil Schiller who announced these AirPods on stage are Apple’s new replacement for conventional EarPods which are useless with the new iPhone 7 and 7 Plus as Apple has ditched the 3.55 mm headphone jack and to get these you will have to cough up extra money.

What Apple has included in the iPhone 7 retail box are existing headphone modified so that they are compatible to work with the lightening port. As for the AirPods they look similar to the existing EarPods minus the wires and are capable of switching between playing music on an iPhone and the Apple Watch without any physical input.
It’s just a simple act of opening the AirPods charging case upon which your iPhone will ask you to connect to the AirPods and audio transmission will commence. The AirPods are compatible with Macs, iPads, older iOS devices and even the Apple TV. The AirPods offer additional features such as noise cancellation and the ability to access Siri just by double tapping on the AirPods.
All credit for this has been given to new W1 chip within the AirPods in the following words “The all new Apple W1 chip enables the groundbreaking innovations in AirPods, with dual optical sensors and accelerometers in each AirPod that work with the W1 chip to detect when AirPods are in your ear, so they only play when you are ready to listen. Simply remove them to automatically pause the music, or just remove one to have a conversation and automatically resume when you put it back.”
The W1 chip is pretty amazing as it allows the AirPods to offer unique services. These AirPods have dual optical sensors and accelerometers in each AirPod and in collaboration with the W1 chip they are able to detect when they are in your ear so the music only plays when you are ready to listen to some and in case you want to pause the music you just have to remove one AirPod and when you put it back the music will start playing from where you left.
The AirPod offer 5 hours of battery time on full charge while the battery pack offer 24 hours of charging for the AirPods. They will become available from end of October and will cost $159. Additionally Apple has offered the same technology that comes in the AirPods through the W1 chip in the new Beats range which will consist of all new Solo3 Wireless On-Ear Headphones, Powerbeats3 Wireless Earphones, and 99BeatsX Earphones.
