The star feature of these new cameras is the Balanced Optical SteadyShot or B.O.SS introduced by Sony. This allows for smoother footage as it combines the camera and lens assembly which then move simultaneously. Both the cameras have an Exmor R CMOS sensor with a BIONZ X image processor.

The cameras are splash proof and can be turned into waterproof cameras if the provided Underwater Housing is utilized. Other than this the camera come with an optional one of a kind Live-View Remote unit which works as a replacement for the missing screen on the camera and lets you control all the camera functions.
You can attach this to a tripod or wear it on your wrist. The Sony FDR-X3000 costs $400 and $550 if you get the Sony FDR-X3000R with the Live-View Remote. While the HDR-AS300 comes for $300 and you will have to spend $450 on the HDR-AS300R with the remote. They will become available in North America from late September.
