One of burning questions about the $35 Pokemon Go Plus Bluetooth bracelet is about the Pokemon Go app continuing to track egg and buddy distance while the phone is in lock mode. Redditor c-a-m-i has confirmed that it does in his extensive test of the Pokemon Go Plus with an iPhone.
Using the Pokemon Go Plus with the Pokemon Go app in the background saves a lot of battery. Trainers can just use the button to try catch a Pokemon. I say try, as pushing the button on the Pokemon Go Plus does not guarantee that you catch a live Pokemon unseen. The Pokemon Go Plus also just throws normal balls.
Also convenient is to empty PokesStops. The tester has a PokeStop right next to his office desk, like i do. So every 5 minutes he pushes the button to stack up on Items. Does not get more convenient.
The battery saving aspect of the Pokemon Go Plus is another big plus for a lot of Pokemon Go trainers. The Pokemon Go Plus device is made by Nintendo. The company scrapped the initial rollout to prepare for the demand. It will likely be hard to get, depending how many units Nintendo was able to produce in the past weeks.

The Pokemon Go Plus appears to be useful enough for regular trainers. Another option will be the Pokemon Go app for the Apple Watch. Niantic CEO John Hanke confirmed at the Techcrunch event this week that Pokemon Go will come to Android Wear smartwatches as well.
The main problem with Pokemon Go Plus is that you do not see which Pokemon is here. Catching blind risks to lose a chance to catch a rare Pokemon. The Pokemon Go accessory is though great for raiding PokeStops.
Update: First users of the Pokemon Go Plus report a miserly 30% capture rate. There was a bug that no XP and star dust is earned with a Pokemon capture using Pokemon Go Plus. This is been reverted and the latest test show that you earn 100XP, 100 Stardust and 3 candy for a catch.
For experienced trainers at higher levels, using the Pokemon Go Plus for catching wild Pokemon does still not make much sense as they cannot switch balls.
In the last eight weeks, Pokemon Go surpassed 500 million downloads around the world and players have collectively walked 4.6 billion kilometers, which is the distance from Earth to Pluto. Niantic's CEO Hanke announced these stunning milestones at the Apple Event on September 7.
