Human Inc. has opened up pre-orders and unveiled details about the new headphones and accompanying platform that it describes as "an evolution of personal audio."

The Seattle startup raised $700,000 in December and on Tuesday, launched a crowdfunding campaign for "Sound," the wireless headphones that are shaped like ears and “act as an extension of the human body.”
There are no buttons, you have to use your finger on the headphones themselves to control the music and answer phone calls. These have a battery life of 12 hours and comes with a charging station. The earphones magnetically come together and turn off, then they turn on when they come apart.
You will also be able to share audio with up to 20 individuals, block out or let in noise from around you, and even get a loudspeaker by placing the earphones together.
“The future of audio is more than wireless headphones,” Human co-founder Joe Dieter said in a statement. “The industry has been playing it safe and only inching forward its consumer audio offerings.”
This is a one-day presale today (9/20) for $170 per unit. Once the crowdfunding campaign starts, they will be $200. Once they are put into retail, they will cost $400.
Contrary to popular belief, wireless headphones aren't all that new. However, now that Apple has eliminated the headphone jack for the newest iPhone, more and more people are going to be purchasing wireless headphones.
Even more intriguing is that people will be able to try some of the headphone's newest technology, including language translation, advanced biometric monitoring, and sleep tracking.
Dieter founded the 40-person company last year with CEO Benjamin Willis. Bill Moore, previously CEO of companies like RootMetrics and Allrecipes, became Human’s president and executive chairman earlier this year.

Total funding right now is near $6 million and investors include Fred Warren, former managing director of Brentwood Associates; Darling Ventures Managing Director Daniel Darling; and Sugar Mountain Capital CEO Kurt Beecher Dammeier.
