Adele’s latest album 25 has already sold 10 million copies in just 10 months to be certified as diamond platinum by the RIAA.
She is proving to be a force to be reckoned with. Adele just recently completed her six sold-out performances at the Madison Square Garden in New York but before that, just on last Thursday, the Recording Industry Association of America or RIAA came out to give Adele a plaque along with the news that she was certified diamond platinum.
That means that her album 25 has shifted an incredible 10 million copies, just in the U.S. market alone. RIAA does not record the sales beyond that or there would be more, according to Forbes.
The most incredible thing is that Adele has managed to achieve this milestone in just 10 months. Her album was released in November and although she kept the album off the streaming services for the first few months, she has still managed the feat in the age when most album sales are affected by the digital age.
The album has already made history and smashed all previous records back in November when it debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 with 3.38 million copies moved, besting the previous best first-week and single-week sales tally by a mile.
She has also become the most selling artist of this century. Moreover, she is the first person to hit the multi-platinum status in this decade with the previous multi-platinum artists have been awarded in the past decade including, Eminem's The Eminem Show and country pop singer Shania Twain's Up! in 2002 and, in 2000, teen idol Britney Spears' Oops!...I Did It Again, boy band NSYNC's No Strings Attached and Beatles compilation 1. Adele’s 21 has also sold 14 platinum.
