Nintendo NES Classic Console Takes on Sony PS4 and Microsoft Xbox One This Holiday Season

There will be a new Nintendo Console this Holiday shopping season.

The new Nintendo NX is skipping the Holidays and will go on sale in March of 2017. Nintendo has another a new console that will launch in time for the Holidays that could be a surprise hit. The $59.99 NES Classic console goes on sale on November 11. The shrunk NES console features the classic Nintendo NES controller many geeks have grown up with. The retro console comes pre-installed with 30 classic NES games including Super Mario Bros., Pac-Man, Metroid, Donkey Kong, The Legend of Zelda and Kirby's Adventures.

All games can be played in three display modes. With the CRT filter, a scan-line effect is added to the screen to give everything that oh-so-retro look and feel. 4:3 is a sharp, clean look that adheres to the original aspect ratio used by the NES. And when playing in Pixel Perfect mode, every pixel is shown as a perfect square, providing the most accurate representation of the games as they were originally designed.

Sony and Microsoft should be a little bit afraid of this baby. Watch the NES Classic introduction trailer below.

The NES Classic (CLVSNESA) ships with one controller, but a second controller can be connected to the $60 console.  Nintendo will sell a $9.99 NES classic controller (CLVACNES). The pre-orders for the NES Classic are sold out. New NES Classic stock is expected to be available on November 11.

eBay resellers believe the NES Classic is worth 2 to 3 times the retail price. It is worthwhile to wait for the launch to try to bag a NES  Classic then. Pre-orders for the NES Classic have been available from Target, Best Buy, ToysRUs and Amazon. For some reason GameStop has the NES Classic not listed.

Nintendo introduced the original NES in 1983 in Japan. The NES came to America in 1985 and launched in Europe a year later. The NES was the best-selling console back then, revitalizing the crashed video game industry.
