Nintendo, as reported, has been notoriously hush-hush about the Nintendo NX. Thankfully, Yves Guillemot has started to open his mouth a little bit.
Ubisoft held a conference call with shareholders today to talk about the concerns of the takeover by Vivendi. Still, it also gave them the chance to talk about their concerns about what Nintendo is going to do with the Nintendo NX. Guillemot explained that the console will have the chance to restore Nintendo to is place at the top of the gaming throne.
“I believe Nintendo will be back in the race with the NX,” Guillemot said in French during the call (per Chloé Woitier on Twitter).
Of course, Ubisoft wants to get people to get excited about the NX. The publisher regularly releases software within the first year or two of the system, so that is in their best interests.
Guillemot is building up that interest as well, saying: “The new Nintendo [gaming system] is a fantastic machine,” Guillemot said at a separate Ubisoft presentation earlier this month. “It’s really a new approach. It’s really Nintendo — coming with something new again. We love it.”
Ubisoft is one of the best-selling publishers on many console and PC stores, but they want everyone to be strong, as it is something they could capitalize on, per Venture Beat.
