Don't Miss: Best Cyber Week Deals
Car enthusiasts will be delighted to know their favorite show The Grand Tour is not far from airing on their TVs. Fans will have better hopes with The Grand Tour after the fiasco of Top Gear on which the main presenters quit only after the first six episodes.
We are pleased to inform The Grand Tour has nabbed all three of the original Top Gear presenters; Jeremy Clarkson, James May, and Richard Hammond. Moreover The Grand Tour reportedly has a budget of over £4.5 million, not just the entire season, BUT per every episode.
This means the entirety of the show will have a budget of over £160 million. According to the Express, The Grand Tour has also released their airing dates to be the 18th of November, 2016. A new episode of The Grand Tour will drop on our screens and online every week to keep things fresh.
The Grand Tour
For those of you unfamiliar with the show, The Grand Tour is a show about cars from around the world. And we mean literally cars from every corner of the planet earth. Metro informed that every week a new location is used and the episodes will include fans from that native part of the world.
The Grand Tour will consist of 36 episodes which will be released over a period of three years as the three presenters will travel the globe. Fans will be able to see the episodes first on the streaming service Amazon Video.
Not many people know this but after the main presenter Jeremy Clarkson quit or was sacked as some speculate by BBC, the trio came up with the idea of The Grand Tour and reached out to Netflix. But Netflix deemed it too expensive and in the meantime it was nabbed by Amazon Video.
Traveling with the Fans
Basically the team from ‘Top Gear’ is now on tour around the globe while testing and reviewing high power cars, while giving the fans a chance to join them.
The sneak peaks of The Grand Tour, released back in July showed the crew in Johannesburg, South Africa along with a bevy of their fans. The Grand Tour will also be characterized by their signature tent, which they set up in whichever part of the world they are.
The tent takes up at least two days to set up but then serves as the main venue of the show. Fans from the local part of whichever location The Grand Tour is visiting can join the crew by buying tickets which have been made available online.
DigitalSpy has already revealed that more than a 100 people are already vying to apply for The Grand Tour episode to take place in Whitby, Yorkshire in the UK.
Coming up with the title of ‘The Grand Tour’
Right now we’re all abuzz with the name of The Grand Tour but as GQ magazine reported back in May the show didn’t even have a name yet. The name ‘The Grand Tour’ came months after the filming started.
Jeremy Clarkson related every morning he would make a call to the lawyers which would be worth £7000 with a new idea for the name but, every time the reply was the title is already in use in some part of the world. Moreover the team were legally prohibited from using the name of their previous BBC show words ‘Top’ and ‘Gear’ in any form.
In an interview, Jeremy was asked why the name of the show was selected as ‘The Grand Tour’ and the answer was simple. According to Jeremy they will be travelling the world and hosting a new episode every single week in a new country which is in itself a grand tour, but involves cars.
That’s not all. The Grand Tour will have some very notable celebrity guests with the likes of Charlize Theron and Matt Damon already announced.
The show announced in addition to these two superstars many other big names will follow from fame town. The Sun reported all these signs even before the show release, indicate something very big is going on, and it will have a greater pulling power than the Top Gear.
The Grand Tour Cars
Now let us take a look at the most important aspect of the show, the ‘Cars’. Sneak peaks show in the very first episode the trio Jez, James, and Richard will test drive all three of the new hybrid car everyone has been talking about; the Ferrari LaFerrari, McLaren P1 and the Porsche 918 Spyder.
All three of the cars are limited edition models and capable of producing more than 200 mph. However what we’re really excited about is the Ferrari which is reportedly worth more than £1.15 million.
Other small glimpses of the trailer footage showed race cars the likes of Maseratis, a Rolls Royce and a Porsche. The official twitter handle of The Grand Tour has also revealed cars like the Aston Martin DB11, the Rolls Royce Dawn and the Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat will be tested in Venice, Italy.
While the team will take on the new Mazda MX-5, the Zenos E10 and the Alfa Romeo 4C Spider on the streets of Morocco. Other cars include the Ford Mustang Shelby GT350 and a Ford Focus RS.
Accompanying app- DriveTribe
The car and travelling is not the only thing new about the show. The show will feature an accompanying app called the ‘DriveTribe’. Alphr.com reports with the app the new show is not just about prime time TV but it is a whole new lifestyle.
The app ‘DriveTribe’ will be launched by Clarkson, Hammond and May, which is the equivalent of a social media network cum online magazine.
Not only does the app come with a nice little logo, but will be the main technological platform for people who are crazy about cars. It will be the first grand-scale online motoring community, allowing people to come and share videos and comments, thus providing new info on cars.
New trailer of The Grand Tour is one action filled Bond film-esque ride
The new trailer of ‘The Grand Tour’ is just in and let us tells you it’s not lacking any sort of action. If the sneak peek is any indication the new show will blow Top Gear out of the fans eyes.
The new show ‘The Grand Tour’ featuring the famously originally trio hosts on Top Gear will hit the screens next month.
Not only are the three hosts Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May having loads of fun in the trailer, Clarkson even got to dress up as James Bond.
The new show which will premiere next month has a huge budget of £4.5 million per episode. We can safely see all the action seen in the trailer may not have come cheap.
Suffice to say the trailer showed up explosions, super and hybrid cars, camels, jet-skis, tanks and even helicopter. The trios of hosts seem to be giving their former show Top Gun a run for their money.
The trio also show off they still have their onscreen chemistry intact as James May is ribbed for his broken arm.
The show cannot be successful if there weren’t any supercars and in the trailer we can see a fleet of them. The luxury vehicles can be seen not just on a track but also off-road and even on picturesque countryside roads ranging from mountainsides to exotic deserts.
In The Grand Tour, land, sea and air have all been covered in the face of speed. One particular scene shows Hammond driving a speedboat while Clarkson races him to the end on a jet ski.
The show will debut on Amazon Prime on the 18th of November, 2016.
