Don't Miss: Amazon 12 Days of Deals Sale

The classic Black Friday is making a comeback in 2016 with over already over 40 stores staying closed on Thanksgiving Day.

Black Friday creep has pushed the store opening hours for Black Friday sales to Thanksgiving Day. Stores opened as early as 6am for Black Friday sales events on Thanksgiving Day last year. A growing number of retailers have changed their mind about having their stores open on Thanksgiving Day. Staples, GameStop, Sam's Club, Costco, Home Depot and Lowe's are some of the most prominent retail chains that are closed on Thanksgiving Day.

This week the largest mall in America made headlines with the announcement to stay closed on Thanksgiving Day. The Black Friday 2016 sale at Mall of America begins at 5am on Black Friday. If really the whole mall is shut remains to be seen as individual stores could decide to open.

Black Friday site BestBlackFriday has compiled a list of stores closed on Thanksgiving Day. Over 40 retailers will wait with their Black Friday sales until Friday, Nov. 25. Most online Black Friday 2016 sales will though be live on Thanksgiving Day.

The most popular Black Friday stores including Walmart, Best Buy, Target, Kmart and Sears will likely again be open on Thanksgiving Day.

For Black Friday worthy deals turn to Amazon this weekend. The online retailer hosts a Columbus Day 2016 sale with steep discounts on Amazon Devices including Kindle. The Amazon Columbus Day sale is underway now.
