Maserati insists their EV will be unlike any other EV. It will especially not be anything like the famous EVs of Tesla. Sources have disclosed Maserati official have been assigned to deliver an EV as soon as possible but even production is not possible by 2019.
Namely the Fiat Chrysler Automobiles chief Sergio Marchionne, has instructed the Maserati engineering boss Roberto Fedeli to deliver a Maserati EV as soon as possible.
During the Paris auto show Fedeli stated in an interview to Car & Driver that they will probably be able to show something by 2019 or 2020.
"I think that we could show something before 2020. Maybe 2019," he said. "We are working to be ready with something that we can show during the next couple of years."
Even Maserati is known for employing the process of digital development which is ultra-quick, it will still take the car-maker at least by 2019 to make the car a real production version vehicle.
One thing we are hearing the new EV will sport is a sleek grand-touring coupe like design, which is far away from the curves of Tesla. Maserati boss has himself admitted they will be the last to come into this EV market, so they will have to come up with something very different from the other.
Keep in mind by 2020 big automakers like BMW, Audi, Mercedes-Benz, Jaguar, Lexus, Infiniti, Volvo and even Tesla have promised new and production version models of electronic vehicles.
According to The Verge, Fideli also stated even though Tesla is the reigning boss of EVs right now their product is not the very best. Currently Tesla is producing 50,000 electronic cars a year. Fideli stated Tesla solutions are not the best and they wish to come up with better.
