Niantic released new Pokemon Go App updates fixing bugs and introducing the pre-announced features.

Niantic has announced new features that enhance the game play last week including Catch Bonus and how you can train in a Gym. The new Pokemon Go App updates 0.41.2 for Android and 1.11.2 for iOS contain these new features. Besides these two new game features, Niantic fixed several audio issues and other minor issues.

The Egg & Incubator Screens will now periodically update the distance walked without the Trainer needing to close and reopen the screen. The new Pokemon Go release has shorter evolution animations to save time.

As with past updates, it takes time until 0.41.2 for Android will show up for you in the Google Play store. Expect to see the update during the next 24 hours. The Pokemon Go 1.11.2 for iOS could come even later, depending on Apple's approval process. If all goes well, then also iPhone owners will get the update in the next 24 hours.

Niantic has blocked all 3rd party apps with a new security update to the communication between the Pokemon Go app and the Pokemon Go servers. The developer of the popular Pokemon Go map service FastPokeMap has taken the lead in reverse engineering the new encryption. His latest estimate when FastPokeMap will work again is 1 to 2 weeks.

The Pokemon Go trainer community is not happy to have to play Pokemon Go blind. There are some working Pokemon Go Tracker that are based on crowd-sourced Pokemon spawn locations.

Niantic has still not made any announcements regarding the highly anticipated in-app Pokemon Go tracker. This is now especially problematic as all real-time Pokemon Go tracker do not work anymore.

Pokemon Go App 0.41.2 for Android and 1.11.2 Release Notes

Catch Bonus: Trainers can earn a catch bonus for a Pokémon type as they catch more of a specific type.

The feature grants a catch bonus when you earn medals based on catching certain types of Pokémon (Kindler, Psychic, Gardener, etc.). These new bonuses will give you a better chance of capturing Pokémon with a related type. For example, as you reach a higher tier for the Kindler Medal, your bonus to catch Fire-type Pokémon such as Charmander, Vulpix and Ponyta increases.

Trainers can work their way to a new tier by catching many Pokémon of the same type. If a Pokémon has multiple types, your bonus will be the average of your bonuses for each type. For example, Pidgey is both Normal and Flying type. Your bonus in this case would be the average of your Normal-type and Flying-type bonuses.

Updated Gym Training: Trainers can now bring six Pokémon to battle at friendly Gyms. The CP of the Pokémon you are battling may be temporarily adjusted lower for your training session. When training at a friendly Gym, Trainers will be able to bring six Pokémon to battle instead of one. In addition, the CP of the Pokémon you are training against may be temporarily adjusted lower during your training session to generally match your Pokémon’s battle capabilities.

No matter what your level, you can now have an impact on your team’s Gym. Walk with your Buddy Pokémon to that nearby landmark and show your Team Leader that you can battle with the best!

Egg & Incubator Screens: These will periodically update the distance walked without the Trainer needing to close and reopen the screen.

Fixed several audio issues.
